“SUQUAMISH – Sometime between Thursday evening and Friday noon Barbara J. Sneed, 65, of Suquamish was stabbed to death in her Fern Street home. Kitsap County detectives are releasing few details about the crime until a suspect is found, said Mike Davis, chief of detectives with the Kitsap County Sheriff’s office. So far, he said, detectives have no suspects in the case. Officers are not saying whether the attacker or attackers forced their way into Sneed’s home, whether a sexual assault was involved, how the home was entered, or the type of weapon that was used. We want to be able to share the details with people, Davis said. But, he added, it’s the details of the murder that could help them find a suspect. Sneed was found about noon Friday by her caregiver. Since then a team of detectives has canvassed the neighborhood collecting information about Sneed’s daily activities. Detectives are also using computer software to recreate the scene of the crime. Sneed would walk to the store or to the Suquamish Community Congregational United Church of Christ, where she had been a member for several years. She resided in her Suquamish home for 28 years and for the majority of that time she lived alone. The small house is set back from the road and is surrounded on three sides by large trees. Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward, $4,000 of which has been donated by family and friends, for information leading to the arrest and conviction of her killer.
