Taking it off for a good cause

Next weekend’s all-male revue to benefit Bremerton Eagles.

Bremerton Eagles Aerie 192 members are hoping a little male eye candy will help sweeten funding efforts for their deteriorating building.

The first fundraiser of its kind for the nonprofit group, the Teasers All-Male Revue will take to the stage at 8 p.m. Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25 at the Eagles building, located at 205 Sixth St. in downtown Bremerton. Doors open at 7 p.m. and attendees must be at least 21 years old. Pre-sale tickets are $20. Tickets at the door are $25. Proceeds will go toward repairing the Eagles’ aging building, which was built in 1941.

“The building really hasn’t had a lot of care for the last 30 years,” said Chris Greszczuk, Bremerton Eagles trustees’ assistant. “We like to do a lot of charity work, but at this point we need to be the charity. The building needs some real TLC.”

A new roof to replace the leaky, patched-over one that currently covers the building and repairs to the broiler are just a couple of the desperately needed maintenance requirements Eagles members are facing, according to Greszczuk. In brainstorming ideas on how to raise the needed funds, an all-male revue show was initially a running joke.

“We said, ‘We should have the male strippers in here making the ladies go crazy,’” Greszczuk explained. “It started out as a joke, then we started thinking maybe we should do this.”

The four performers for the night belong to the Teasers All-Male Revue group. Most of them are based in the Seattle area and, according to Greszczuk, are more than the typical “in-your-face” entertainers.

“They actually put on a show,” she said. “Each gentleman has a different persona: one is a construction worker and I know another one is a fireman.”

The Bremerton Eagles’ lounge will be serving up drinks to those in attendance. Proceeds from the bar as well as ticket sales will help the group’s fund-raising efforts.

“If it goes well, we’d like to bring them back for more shows,” Greszczuk said. “We hope to be able to do this again and raise money for other charities.”

The attendance limit is 200 people and Eagles members are hoping to sell out both nights.

“The guys are going to put on a nice production and there will be audience participation,” she said.

The Teasers All-Male Revue will put on a full show, she added, but they are required to keep their G-strings on.

“I hope everyone has a good time,” she said. “I’d like to think we’re a fairly worthwhile cause.”

Tickets are available for purchase at the Bremerton Eagles building. For more information, call Greszczuk at (360) 373-4944.
