With more than 1,300 votes, Kitsap Mall’s first ever Mother’s Day makeover contest was a success.
Team Tiefer, of Brownsville, received the top prize, a $150 Kitsap Mall gift card, and mom Libbey Tiefer already has plans for the gift card.
“I’m giving it to my daughter, so she’s very excited,” she said.
Libbey said 16-year-old Bryce Anne deserves the gift card because she did an excellent job giving her a makeover worth $450.
Chalice Markus and daughter Cynthia Pealstrom, both of Bremerton, won the Mother’s Day makeover contest, receiving nearly 60 percent of the votes, but decided to give the top prize to the second-place team.
Pealstrom said the makeover experience with her mother was enjoyable and they are happy they participated in the contest and received more than 800 votes.
“We had a blast, we had fun,” she said. “We enjoyed the actual makeover aspect of it. It was fun for my mom and I to do something like that.”
Libbey said she and Bryce Anne loved participating in the makeover contest too. She predicts if Kitsap Mall hosts the event again next Mother’s Day, more people may try to sign up because it is such a great contest.
“It was really, really fun,” Libbey said. “I’m sure next year it’s going to be much more busy.”
Team Tiefer received 382 votes for Libbey’s new look and Libbey said she’s not surprised they received so many votes.
She said her family and friends told everyone they knew about the contest. Libbey said a childhood friend who lives in Virginia even voted for her online at the Bremerton Patriot Web site.
“I think that kind of shows the power of word-of-mouth marketing,” Tiefer said.
As for what Bryce Anne will spend the Kitsap Mall gift card on, Libbey had only one guess.
“I would say Forever 21 is going to be very happy to see her walk in the door,” she laughed.
