A Port Orchard 16-year-old and a 16-year-old passenger in his vehicle were injured in a crash when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Sedgwick and Long Lake roads Saturday night.

The teen driver’s 1994 Plymouth was northbound on Long Lake Road when it collided with a 1997 Jeep Wrangler that was eastbound on Sedgwick, but the Jeep’s driver fled the scene on foot after the crash, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Troopers haven’t yet confirmed the identity of the Jeep’s driver.

The crash occurred at 11:31 p.m. Saturday.

Both teens in the Plymouth were transported to Tacoma General Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The State Patrol lists the Plymouth driver’s failure to yield as the cause of the accident, but also says charges are pending against both drivers.

The Plymouth was totaled and the Jeep, which was impounded, sustained $2,000 in damage.
