Three-acre brush fire dampened by SKFR

A fast-moving, three-acre brush fire in South Kitsap July 22 was brought under control by South Kitsap Fire and Rescue.

SOUTH KITSAP — A fast-moving, three-acre brush fire in South Kitsap July 22 was brought under control by South Kitsap Fire and Rescue.

By the time firefighters arrived at the blaze off Lindi Lane, flames had begun to ignite a detached garage structure, according to South Kitsap Fire officials. The structure fire was quickly brought under control.At the height of the fire, 38 firefighters from South Kitsap, Bremerton, Key Peninsula, North Kitsap, Poulsbo and Bainbridge Island fire departments had responded to bring the fire under control. It was contained in just under and hour, firefighters reported, but took several hours to extinguish. No injuries were reported.

Kitsap County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Fire department officials say dry conditions in the area contributed to the fast-moving nature of the blaze.
