The appointments are each equivalent to a full four-year scholarship including tuition, room and board, medical and dental benefits, and a monthly midshipman salary.

After completing the four-year curriculum at the Naval Academy, the students will receive Bachelor of Science degrees in one of 25 majors and earn a commission as an officer in the Navy or Marine Corps.

Pendleton received a U.S. Naval Academy Foundation Scholarship. He will attend a preparatory school for one year before entering the Naval Academy, while Anies and Knowles will head straight to the Academy.
