T’was the day after Christmas

And if you’re reading this, you’ve received your North Kitsap Herald right on time. (Yes, we realize it’s Sunday.) By now, the presents have been unwrapped, the tree has been raided of its candy canes, leftovers are taking up prime real estate in the fridge and one of your spouse’s estranged siblings is claiming your living room sofa for their bed, for another night no less.

And if you’re reading this, you’ve received your North Kitsap Herald right on time. (Yes, we realize it’s Sunday.) Already-broken toys and in-laws aside, the day after Christmas is a brief respite before launching into another hectic work week here in the North End. New Year’s is coming up all too soon but before it does, we’d like to thank everyone out there for their presents.

Presents?

The word likely has some of you scratching your heads, wondering if you accidentally sent the Herald a gift. If you’re reading this, you are giving this paper your time and in the end that’s the best present we could ever hope for.

You see, small community newspapers, like yours, are not as plentiful as they once were. Many people are simply too busy or have too little time to find out what’s going on in their neighborhoods. Some don’t even care.

If you’re reading this, you are also showing that you are willing to take a few minutes every now and again, maybe even twice a week, and support what you should feel is “your” paper. It truly is, too.

The staff here takes great pride in that fact and does everything within reason to ensure that when you pick up the North Kitsap Herald, North Kitsap news is what you get.

We truly appreciate your support and time and thank you all again for the gift of your readership.
