Two injured in icy crash

Two people were injured when a car slid on ice near Silverdale and crashed head-on into another vehicle on Monday morning.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the 16-year-old Bremerton female driver of a gray 2006 Ford Taurus was traveling southbound on State Route 3 when it slid on ice, crossed the median and struck a 2006 Toyota Matrix driven by a 34-year-old Belfair woman.

The crash occurred at 6:51 a.m.

Both vehicles were totaled. There were no passengers in the cars.

Both people were wearing seatbelts. Drugs are alcohol were not factors in the crash. Both motorists were injured and taken to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton.

The driver of the Ford was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
