Kelly Gast and Paul Zunich of Port Orchard of Port Orchard won a brand new truck playing “Trucks and Bucks” game.

Gast realized she won when a representative from Washington’s Lottery called to reveal that she was the first prize winner of the second chance drawing for the game.

“At first I thought it was a joke, but then it sunk in,” said Gast. “Since my husband works nights, he was sleeping when I received the call. I jumped on the bed to tell him. We’re very excited!”

Gast chose an ice silver 2014 Chevy Silverado with a black leather interior.

She picked up the truck from the Titus-Will dealership in Olympia on July 23.

She said she and her family would like to do a road trip, possibly to Colorado, before her son and two nephews return to school in September.

“I’m most excited for my husband though,” said Gast. “His car is needing some help, so now we’ll be able to fix it and pass it down to my nephew as his first car.”

Gast, a veterinary technician, said she occasionally buys Lotto and Scratch tickets, and has only won $5 to $20 dollars before.

Zunich realized he won when a representative called to reveal that he was the first prize winner of the second chance drawing for the game. He said that because the truck was part of the second chance drawing he purchased tickets in packets of 50.

“I told my parents first. They were happy,” he said.

He chose a metallic blue topaz 2014 Chevy Silverado after test-driving it at the Haselwood Chevrolet in Bremerton.

After picking up his new truck, Zunich said he was headed to his local hangout where he had scratched several of the tickets for the contest.

Zunich also won a merchandise prize package in the Muscle Car Scratch game that was available in 2012 and $1,000 from other Washington’s Lottery games.

He plays Powerball and other draw games like Mega Millions and Match 4 a couple times per week. His new truck is his biggest win so far.

“I’m most excited that my efforts playing paid off,” he said.
