PORT ORCHARD — Less than 24 hours after a masked man allegedly robbed American Marine Bank in Central Market, the Poulsbo Police two suspects in custody. According to Poulsbo Police, 28-year-old Shane Garcia and James Black, 49, both of Poulsbo, were arrested about 3 p.m. May 22 in Suquamish. Both made court appearances in Kitsap County Superior Court Tuesday afternoon.
Garcia was charged with felony bank robbery, while Black was charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Poulsbo Police and the FBI allege that Garcia and Black pulled up to Central Market’s loading dock in a pickup truck at 5:21 p.m.
Garcia, the driver, allegedly got out of the truck and pulled a ski mask over his face. He went inside Central Market and pointed the weapon at a customer. Authorities believe Black stayed in the truck during the robbery.
He then entered the American Marine Bank branch and ordered those inside the bank to get on the ground, authorities say.
There were no reported injuries.
American Marine Bank was the third Poulsbo bank to be robbed in the last two months. On April 13, the Kitsap Credit Union on State Route 305 was robbed by a man wearing a pants suit. A man wearing a cowboy hat robbed Westsound Bank on Viking Avenue April 7. He was later arrested.
Neither of the April robberies involved weapons.Assistant Poulsbo Police Chief Shawn Delaney said the number of bank robberies is an uncommon trend and “it is of great concern.”
