Two community-wide open house meetings were hosted Jan. 24 and 27 at the Greater Hansville Community Center.
The meetings provided the community with an opportunity to learn more about the various elements that will make up the community plan. Guest speakers included Kitsap County Commissioner Steve Bauer and other county staff members who answered questions.
The following areas were discussed and reviewed: parks and recreation, transportation, utilities, land use, the economy and public services.
Included in the presentations were also the following: the Hansville area in the county’s TDR program; including the Hansville area in a “mitigation” bank; developing green building programs; increasing access to high-quality environments; developing an educational program about environmental stewardship; and banning hunting.
The community is still on target to have the plan’s initial draft complete by May 2009. Greater Hansville Area residents are encouraged to attend any of the upcoming meetings to help develop the goals, policies and action items for the various elements of the community plan.
The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 17 at the community center.
