USS Louisiana chief under investigation for child rape

Kitsap County Superior Court recently issued a warrant for the arrest of a command master chief stationed at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor for allegations of child rape.

Daniel C. Jones, 39, is not in custody, but currently under Navy control, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO). The warrant for his arrest was issued Jan. 30 and charges specified in the warrant include two counts of second-degree child rape and one count of communication with a minor for immoral purposes.

KCSO began an investigation Jan. 13 concerning allegations involving “sexual contact between Jones and underage female victims,” according to an e-mail from Deputy Scott Wilson, KCSO spokesman. Patrol deputies initiated the investigation and sheriff’s detectives completed follow-up work.

Jones has served as Chief of the Boat aboard the USS Louisiana’s blue crew for about three years. The submarine is homeported at NBK Bangor.

When Jones is made available to civil authorities, he will be taken into custody and booked into Kitsap County Jail, according to KCSO.
