July events at the Kingston branch
— Kingston Book Group: July 3 at 10 a.m. We will discuss our chosen travel book. It can be real or imaginary, non-fiction or fiction. It’s the journey that counts.

— Storytime and Craft: Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Come for a morning full of reading, rhymes, songs, and a fun craft after storytime. Pre-readers can count storytime toward their summer-reading hours.

— Monday Movie & Craft: July 8, 1 p.m. Vote to decide which version of “Alice in Wonderland” to watch — the 1951 Disney version or the 2010 Tim Burton version. We’ll also craft butterfly fans!

— Kingston Friends of the Library meeting: July 9 at 10 a.m. Support the Kingston Library by joining.

— Magician Jeff Evans: July 9, 1:30 p.m. Magician Jeff Evans unearths secrets of the deep in his all-new subterranean summer reading spectacular. The surprises are non-stop, whether Jeff is mining for precious metals, discovering aquifers, or sharing amazing facts about the world’s deepest supercave. Science stunts, creepy crawlies, and amazing magic are buried throughout the show.

— Kingston Writers Group: July 9 and 23, 6:30 p.m. Enjoy a friendly, supportive atmosphere to encourage writing. We want to read what you want to write: poetry, nonfiction, fiction, or memoir.

— After-Hours Teen Mystery Night: July 12, 6:30 p.m. Participants must follow the clues and examine the evidence to solve the mystery. We’ll have snacks while the mystery unfolds.  Preregistration required. Please sign up at the circulation desk or call 297-3330.

— Classics Book Group: July 15, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.  “The Voyage of the Beagle” by Charles Darwin.

— Legos @ the Library: July 18, from 3-5 p.m.  Drop in for a fun afternoon full of Legos free play and build-it challenges! For children.

— Kingston Friends of the Library Book Sale: July 20, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kingston Farmers Market at the park by the ferry dock.

— Carter Family Marionettes — “Aladdin and His Magic Lamp”: July 23, 1:30 p.m. The exotic beauty and magic of this beloved Persian tale come to life with hand-carved puppets, beautiful scenery and special effects. Will the power of the genie and the wits and bravery of Aladdin and the Princess of China be enough to overcome the evil plots of the Sorcerer?

— Campfire Tales: July 30, 6-7 p.m. There is always room for s’more stories! So wear your hiking gear, bring a sleeping bag to sit on, and head to the library to hear campfire tales and songs. Fun for the whole family.

— Eric Haines: July 16, 10:30 a.m. in the gym by the library. Whether it’s comedy, unforgettable characters, original music, or amazing variety acts, Eric Haines puts on a spectacular show that truly has something for everyone.

— Teen Gaming: July 19, 1-3 p.m. Come to play video and board games.  All games are rated Teen and under. Snacks provided.  Ages 12 through teens.

— Louie Foxx: July 24, 1:30 p.m. in the gym by the library. Voted one of Seattle’s best live entertainers by Parent Map, Louie’s interactive and hilarious magic show will bring a smile to children of all ages.

— Legos @ the Library: July 24, 3:30-5 p.m. Love Legos? Drop in for a fun summer afternoon full of free play and Lego build-it challenges!
