Members of the arts committee for the North Kitsap Arts & Crafts Festival organization are looking for a piece of work that will attract the artistic and artistically-interested to this years’ festival in Port Gamble.

The particular piece chosen by the committee will be used as the artwork for the event’s commemorative poster that will promote the July 23-25 event.

While this is the third year the committee has created such a poster for the event, this will be the first time the public has been tapped for ideas.

“We want to open it up,” said art committee member and NKA&CF board member Lynn Terry. “You never know who is going to have the best idea. We just might get some good stuff from the students.”

Art should include a reference to Port Gamble and the purpose of the event as well as color and contrast, Terry explained.

“Elements of the festival and art, so it will represent what we are doing,” she said.

Not only will paintings and drawings be accepted, but also photography, a medium the art committee hopes to see more of this year with the festival’s juried and open show art submissions.

A color 8 1/2” by 11” copy of the work should be mailed by May 1 to Poster Entry, Phyllis Ceratto Evans, P.O. Box 1101, Poulsbo, WA 98370. All entrants will be notified by May 15 and the winner will be requested to submit the original by May 20. The original will be returned to the artist after the posters are printed.

The posters will also be sold during the event and all profits will go to the organization’s Art Scholarship Fund.

This will be the 45th occurrence of the annual summer festival, which promotes the work of local and regional artists and crafters.
