PORT ORCHARD — Wave Broadband, which provides television cable service under a franchise agreement with the City of Port Orchard, has notified city officials that it intends to increase its rates.
Under an agreement to give the city a 30-day advance notification, Wave Broadband said in a letter to city officials that it will increase monthly rates for “expanded content,” also known as basic cable, and any packages that include the service, by $3.74.
The cable television provider wrote that “this rate adjustment is the direct result of annual programming cost increases from TV networks,” which include major providers such as CBS, NBC, AMC, A&E, Disney/ESPN and Fox.
In addition, Wave Broadband said it plans to raise monthly rates for access to local TV station programming by $4.66. The cable provider wrote that the increase also is as a result of increasing local broadcast station fees charged to Wave Broadband.
The rate increases will be reflected in monthly statements as of Nov. 6, the company wrote.
