POULSBO – Two Bremerton residents escaped injury after their SUV was struck by another vehicle on State Route 3 Jan. 16.

The incident began when 25-year-old Bainbridge Island man drove his 1991 Lexus through standing water while traveling north on State Route 3 at 2:54 p.m.

The Lexus went out of control just south of the intersection with State Route 305 and crashed into a northbound 2001 Chevrolet Suburban that was towing a travel trailer.

The Suburban and trailer then spun out of control, and the trailer came to rest on its side.

No one was injured in the crash, but SR3 was blocked for around 90 minutes.

The Suburban was driven by a 58-year-old Bremerton man. With him was a 60-year-old female passenger, also of Bremerton. The man was wearing his seat belt, but the report does not say if his passenger was wearing one.

The driver of the Lexus also had a passenger. Both occupants of the Lexus were wearing their seat belts.

The Lexus and Suburban were towed from the scene. The trailer was totaled.

WSP stated the driver of the Lexus would be charged with driving too fast for conditions.
