Whaling Days includes fireworks show, Sir Mix-A-Lot performance

Silverdale’s flagship summer event, Whaling Days, kicks off this weekend, which includes a fireworks show and a performance by local Hip-Hop legend Sir Mix-A-Lot.

The event kicks off July 26 with live music, carnival rides, vendors, and a beer garden at 5 p.m. Sir Mix-A-Lot takes the stage at 9 p.m. and a fireworks show will take place at dusk.

Events July 27 kick off with the Whale of a Run starting at 8:15 a.m. at the Kitsap Mall, followed by the Silverdale Lions Grand Parade at 10 a.m. Music, carnival rides, vendors and the beer garden will be offered throughout the day. At 5:30 p.m. a demolition derby will take place at the Kitsap Fairgrounds’ Thunderbird Stadium.

July 28, the last day of events, begins with the Dyes Inlet Dash canoe races at 7:45 a.m. at the Silverdale waterfront gazebo. At 3 p.m. the annual Rotary Duck Race will take place. Music, carnival rides, vendors and the beer garden will be offered throughout the day, ending at 6 p.m.

Whaling Days, which started in 1974, is a family-oriented, non-profit, volunteer-run community festival held in “Old Town” Silverdale. Since 1974, The event gives back to the local community through funds raised to support other non-profit organizations and student scholarships.
