What’s up with the promised facade work update on Port Orchard’s Myhre’s Building exterior?
Lately? Not much.
However, the work will resume after the building contractor receives an inspection of a new power panel.
After building owner Mansour Samadpour’s Abadan Holdings LLC hired a local contractor earlier this month to update the Bay Street landmark’s shabby exterior facade, local residents noticed a flurry of work being done at the site.
Port Orchard Mayor Rob Putaansuu said April 28 that work by local contractor BJC Group has temporarily halted while a new power panel awaits review by a state Labor and Industries inspector.
“There was no power source in the building with the exception of one in the marquee,” Putaansuu said. “Unfortunately, that power source did not belong to the building, so there’s been a delay while that’s being arranged.”
The mayor said work will resume at Myhre’s once the inspection is done. Putaansuu said it’s expected soon although a timetable was not given to BJC Group.
The L&I inspection process is administered by the state, not the city, he said.
