The Wings of Freedom Tour of World War II airplanes will fly into Bremerton National Airport June 15-17 as part of a 110-city nationwide tour.

The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress “Nine O Nine” World War II heavy bomber, Consolidated B-24 Liberator “Witchcraft” World War II heavy bomber and North American P-51 Mustang will be on display.

The B-17 is one of only nine in flying condition in the United States today and the B-24 and P-51 Mustang are the “sole remaining examples of their type flying in the world,” according to The Collings Foundation-Wings of Freedom Tour.

People are invited to tour the aircraft and a $12 donation for adults and $6 donation for children 12 and younger is requested for up-close viewing and tours through the inside of the aircraft.

People also can take 30-minute flights aboard the B-17 or B-24 for $425 per person. Flight experiences are tax-deductible donations. P-51 flights are $2,200 for a 30-minute flight and $3,200 for a full hour.

The Wings of Freedom Tour will arrive at the airport around 2 p.m. Monday, June 15 and will be on display until noon Wednesday, June 17.

Grounded tours are from 2-5 p.m. June 15, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. June 16 and 9 a.m.-noon June 17. The 30-minute flight experiences are normally scheduled before and after the ground tours.
