PORT ORCHARD — The fifth annual Wishbone Day potluck picnic to spread awareness of Osteogenesis Imperfecta will be held at the Port Orchard Marina Park on May 7. The picnic runs from 2-4:30 p.m.
Wishbone Day is on May 6, an international day of awareness of the disease, also known as brittle bone disease, or OI.
Stephanie Lutz, whose daughter RyAnne, 11, has Osteogenesis Imperfecta, has had more than 100 fractures, said she has “an unbreakable spirit.” She said RyAnne’s friends who have the disease are “an amazing group of people.”
RyAnne attends Cedar Heights Middle School.
An OI Puget Sound peer support group and those with OI and their families travel from Seattle, Portland and Canada to attend the annual event, Lutz said. She said those who attend play games, get prizes, take part in arts and crafts, and enjoy a glamour table and a photo booth.
