The North Kitsap School District announced the appointment of Susan Wistrand as principal of Kingston Middle School, effective July 1.

Wistrand came to Kingston Junior High School as interim principal when Ed Serra left the district. For the past two years, she has led the school through its transition from junior high to middle school. Prior to her appointment as interim principal at Kingston Junior High School in July, 2006, Wistrand had split administrative duties as assistant principal at Poulsbo Elementary School and Kingston Junior High School.

Wistrand has 30 years experience as an administrator and a teacher. She was assistant principal of North Buncombe High School in Asheville, North Carolina for five years prior to coming to the North Kitsap School District. She received her master’s degree from Eastern Carolina University and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington.

Tuition for next school year will be $3,125. A limited number of scholarships will be available for qualifying families.
