A Bremerton woman was arrested for attacking a police officer Thursday, striking the police officer five to eight times, knocking off the officer’s glasses and tearing off her radio microphone
At about 1:45 p.m., multiple 911 callers reported a woman screaming near Fifth Street and Pacific Avenue in Bremerton. Police found the 31-year-old woman near First Street and Washington Avenue and asked her to get on the ground multiple times, according to Bremerton Police reports. The woman waved her arms assaulted the officer. The officer pulled a Taser and asked the woman to stop several more times. When the woman continued to scream, the officer used the Taser her, causing her to fall against a building and cut the back of her head.
The assaulted police officer’s left eye was swollen but she refused aid. The woman was taken to Harrison Medical Center for a medical evaluation before going to Kitsap County jail for investigation of third-degree assault, third-degree malicious mischief and disorderly conduct.
