Woman charged with theft for stealing sweatshirt, cat brushes, flea medicine | Court Report

The woman said her boyfriend didn’t arrive to pick her up, and said she stole the coat because it was cold out and she had to walk home. She then went to PetSmart and stole two cat brushes worth $96 and flea medicine worth $97 for her grandmother’s cats.

The following cases were filed in Kitsap County District Court:

• A 23-year-old Silverdale woman was charged with theft in the third degree after she stole a pink and purple sweatshirt worth $54 from Sportsman’s Warehouse April 1. A deputy arrested her as she left a woman’s restroom at the nearby PetSmart store. The woman said her boyfriend didn’t arrive to pick her up, and said she stole the coat because it was cold out and she had to walk home. She then went to PetSmart and stole two cat brushes worth $96 and flea medicine worth $97 for her grandmother’s cats.

• A 29-year-old Silverdale woman was charged with DUI after she allegedly stumbled out of Old Town Pub and got into a white Ford F-150 pickup truck May 19. Deputies observed the truck roll past a stop sign and then make turns without signaling. Deputies pulled her over and the woman said she had a DUI recently. She refused to take a field sobriety test because “I can’t do them sober,” she said. Her BAC was .256.

• A 31-year-old Bremerton woman was charged with DUI and driving while license suspended or revoked after she crashed her red Chevrolet sedan into a ditch May 22. She told a trooper she had four or five shots. During the field sobriety test, the woman made “multiple attempts to try and get into the starting position. She finally gave up and cried, ‘I know I am going to jail.’” Her BAC was .258.

• A 35-year-old Bremerton woman was charged with possession of methamphetamine and assault in the third degree. Bremerton Police arrested her on a warrant May 22 and then allegedly found a syringe and methamphetamine in her possession. She kicked an officer while at the hospital. Bail was set at $100,000.

• A 35-year-old man was charged with theft in the second degree. According to court documents, he told a deputy that he went to the Fred Meyer store May 21 to buy groceries with his food stamps, but then discovered he did not have any food stamps. The man then allegedly tried to shoplift $907 worth of items and said he “would not have shoplifted if he was not high.” Bail was set at $15,000.

• A 40-year-old Bremerton man was charged with assault in the third degree. The man had two felony warrants for his arrest and allegedly struggled with deputies during his arrest. The man allegedly tore a towel rack off the wall and swung it at the deputies. He was then handcuffed. When he calmed down, he said the handcuffs were too tight.

• A 35-year-old Bremerton man was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. A sheriffs deputy observed the stolen Acura Integra being driven on Bay Street in Port Orchard May 23 and pulled the driver over. The man allegedly gave misleading information about his identity to the deputy and also had a theft tool in his possession. The man said he was unaware that the tool was used to steal vehicles.

• A 29-year-old Bremerton man was charged with DUI after a Bremerton Police officer observed him drive his Chevrolet Tahoe SUV 52 mph in a 35 mph zone on Kitsap Way May 21. The man put the SUV into reverse and started backing toward the officer. The officer yelled at the man to stop and turn off the vehicle. The man stopped the vehicle and cursed the officer. The officer called for a backup and a trooper arrived. The man smelled of alcohol and said he “ain’t had shit” and made racist comments about the trooper. The man had a prior DUI.

• A 32-year-old Silverdale man was charged with possession of methamphetamine. A deputy pulled the man over for driving without a seat belt and then learned the man had two warrants for his arrest. Meth was found in the man’s jacket pocket. Bail was set at $47,000.

• A 29-year-old Bremerton man was charged with possession of stolen property in the second degree. An employee at a company lost a company credit card and did not report that it was missing. It was learned later that the card had been used for 18 unauthorized purchases for a total amount of more than $1,300. Purchases included a $380 chainsaw. The man told a Bremerton Police officer that the card was similar to his own credit card, and that he thought it was his card. He allegedly asked the officer if he could set up a payment plan to pay back the card’s real owner. Bail was set at $25,000.

• A 27-year-old Bremerton woman was charged with possession of methamphetamine. She allegedly got into a fight with a security guard at Suquamish Casino. A deputy found a pipe with meth residue on it. Bail was set at $40,000.

• A 27-year-old Silverdale man was charged with assault in the fourth degree. The man became excited about something on television and his roommate, who was trying to rest, told him to be quiet. The man then punched his roommate in the nose. Bail was set at $50,000.

• A 23-year-old Bremerton woman was charged with theft in the third degree after she tried to shoplift items at a Port Orchard pharmacy May 19. Bail was set at $32,500.

• A 43-year-old Bremerton man was charged with DUI after a Bremerton Police officer observed him drive his gold Lincoln Town Car 48 mph in a 25 mph zone on Petersville Road May 22.

• A 27-year-old Bremerton man was charged with assault in the fourth degree. He allegedly hit a woman with his belt.
