Woman dies after being struck by truck at Naval Base Kitsap – Bangor

A civilian employee of Naval Base Kitsap – Bangor was struck and killed by a truck that went off the road and onto the sidewalk when the driver lost control of the vehicle during a turn, Washington State Patrol reported July 23.

BANGOR – A civilian employee of Naval Base Kitsap – Bangor was struck and killed by a truck that went off the road and onto the sidewalk when the driver lost control of the vehicle during a turn, Washington State Patrol reported July 23.

Sandra S. Vicks, 55, of Bremerton died at Harrison Medical Center. She was walking on the sidewalk at Scorpion Avenue and Sculpin Circle when she was struck at 1:09 p.m.

A 1997 GMC Sierra C1500, driven by a 19-year-old man from Silverdale, was heading northbound on Scorpion Avenue and turning right onto Sculpin Circle when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it struck Vicks, Washington State Patrol reported.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and the truck has been impounded. No charges have been filed.
