Woman fatally injured in collision on Clear Creek Road

Poulsbo Fire Department, Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue, and Navy Region Northwest responded to the scene at 6:44 a.m. When crews arrived, they found a bystander, who was a construction worker, had used his own tools to remove the woman from her vehicle and had begun CPR on the woman, with other bystanders assisting. Medics took over but were not able to revive her.

POULSBO — A 57-year-old woman was fatally injured just before 7 a.m. Jan. 21 in a vehicle collision on Clear Creek Road near Orweiler Road.

Poulsbo Fire Department, Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue, and Navy Region Northwest responded to the scene at 6:44 a.m. When crews arrived, they found a bystander, who was a construction worker, had used his own tools to remove the woman from her vehicle and had begun CPR on the woman, with other bystanders assisting. Medics took over but were not able to revive her.

“It was a great example of citizen CPR. They gave the woman the best chance they could have,” Poulsbo Battalion Chief Chris Morrison said in a statement issued by the department.

The woman was driving a small compact vehicle. The 37-year-old male driver of a mid-sized Ford SUV was transported to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton with serious injuries, Poulsbo Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Matson reported.

More information regarding the collision will be released by the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office after next-of-kin are notified. Clear Creek Road near Orweiler Road was closed while the sheriff’s office investigated at the scene.
