Woman transported to Harborview following Suquamish house fire

A woman was transported by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and one of her rescuers was taken by ambulance to St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale as a precaution after a house fire Sept. 26 in Suquamish.

Units from North Kitsap Fire & Rescue, Poulsbo Fire Department, Bainbridge Island Fire Department and Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue were called to a Harris Avenue address at 10:43 a.m., an NKF&R news release says. As the first firefighters arrived to report gray smoke coming from the small single-story home, two Suquamish police officers were carrying an adult woman from inside.

Crews provided medical treatment while others extinguished the fire. Fire damage was limited while smoke damage affected the entire home, per NKF&R. The fire’s cause is under investigation. The occupant and her roommate, who was not home, are displaced and being assisted by the American Red Cross.
