Although it doesn’t have a permanent home yet, steel salvaged from the World Trade Center and destined to be made into a memorial for those who died on the terrorist attacks of Sept 11, 2001 will arrive in Silverdale Sunday.

The procession of motorcycles and supporters, and the steel beams strapped to a trailer and covered in the American flag, is expected to arrive at the mall parking lot for a blessing ceremony at about 5 or 6 p.m., according to a statement from the Kitsap 9-11 memorial committee.

Organizers had hoped to place the memorial at Silverdale Waterfront Park, but were denied.
