Alice M. Wheaton died on Aug. 28 at Hospice Care Center. She was 91.
She was born on Aug. 7, 1918, to Ferdinand and Armena Casper in Battleground. She worked at Keyport Naval Station as a pattern maker during World War II, and retired from Bainbridge Island Plastics Manufacturer. Wheaton enjoyed razor clamming on the coast, fishing and rummage sales.
She was preceded in death by her brothers: John and Harold; and sisters: Bessie and Flora.
Surviving are her loving children: Butch Wheaton of Poulsbo, Merry Wheaton of Poulsbo, and Terry Childress of Union; a brother: Ted Casper of Gresham, Ore.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
There will be no public services planned.

Richard Weiss Sr., 84
Richard Weiss Sr., died Aug. 28 at the Washington State Veterans’ Home in Retsil. He was 84.
Weiss was born to John and Amelia (Anderson) Weiss in Poulsbo on Sept. 23, 1924.
He married Barbara Belle Joyce on Aug. 15, 1953, at St. Paul’s in Bremerton. He was a 1943 graduate of North Kitsap High.
Weiss worked as a heavy equipment operator for North Kitsap Sand and Gravel and Ace Paving. He retired in 1988 from Local 302 Operating Engineers. He served in the U.S. Navy from July 1943 to March 1946.
Weiss loved fishing, playing cards and watching television.
He is survived by his son: Richard (Val) Weiss of Gig Harbor; daughters: Kathy (Darrel) Hogue of Seabeck; and Kristy (Rick) Whitcher of Bremerton; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister, and his wife of 53 years, Barbara.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. at Sept. 11 at Stone Chapel on Foss Road.
