Anna Hilstad

Anna Hilstad died in her sleep on Feb. 10.

She was 83. She was born Oct. 16, 1925, in Omaha, Neb. Hilstad started working early in life and had many stories of working on her father’s farm.

After moving to Washington in the early 1950s, she married her second husband, David Hilstad. They bought a farm in Poulsbo in 1956 and had a small dairy farm.

She was active with the Dairy 4-H club, Women’s VFW, Pen Pals, stamp collecting and family. She was especially fond of her grandchildren.

Hilstad earned her GED as an adult through classes at North Kitsap High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her sister Georgia; and her daughter Sandy.

She is survived by daughters Anna (Corky) Tibbett, Karen (Will) Powell and Kristi (Shelly) Shellenbarger; grandchildren Dave (Shawna) Lambert, Lynn (Rich) Dormaier and Heather Roberts; and four great-grandchildren, Hiatt, MacKenzie, Caleb and Hailey; and many nieces and nephews.

No services are scheduled.

Hilstad’s wish of donating her body to the University of Washington was granted.
