Arline Knox Parker, 81, of Poulsbo, died Aug. 10, 2006 at Manor Care in Gig Harbor from complications of dementia and cancer.
Mrs. Parker was born Nov. 8, 1924 in Norfolk, Neb., to Merle and Alice (Braasch) Hough. The family lived in Nebraska, Washington and Idaho where Mrs. Parker graduated in 1942 from Coeur d’Alene High School.
She married Robert Knox on Jan. 25, 1943 in Bremerton. He died in 1975. Mrs. Parker married her second husband, Burton Parker, on Dec. 11, 1976 in Seattle.
She spent 10 years as an assistant to the executive secretary at Kitsap Physicians Services, retiring in 1975. She stayed active as a member of the Silverdale Garden Club, Belles and Beaus Square Dance Club and the Silverdale Children’s Orthopedic Auxiliary. Mrs. Parker had a great love of music, gardening, reading, home decorating and traveling.
Mrs. Parker is survived by: her husband of Gig Harbor; son Robert (Claire) Knox of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughters Linda Nopp of Bremerton, Kathy (Ron) Miller of Silverdale; stepdaughter Susan (Pat) Worrell of Gig Harbor; sisters Jean (Warren) of Las Vegas and Joanne (Pete) Besas of Blaine, Wash.; nephew Jerry (Doris) Knox of Poulsbo; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law David Nopp and step-grandson Eric Leachman.
A private graveside service was performed at Miller Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bremerton. The family is having an open house memorial at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at the Silverdale Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 11070 Old Frontier Road.
