Linda Gail Engstrom passed away January 23, 2022, in Silverdale, Washington, following a brief illness. Linda was born August 29, 1959, in Pasco, Washington, as Wanda Nixon. She was adopted at 2 years of age by Robert and Patricia Engstrom of Bainbridge Island, and resided there the remainder of her life.
Linda was employed as an in-home elder caregiver. In her youth she participated in the Special Olympics and graduated from Bremerton High School in 1979. She was an active member of the American Legion, Colin Hyde Post 172, as an extension of her interest in war history. Linda attended Christ Memorial Church and Breidablik Baptist Church.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Engstrom. She is survived by her father, Robert Engstrom, biological sisters Cheryl Larson and Linda Lee McPhetridge, biological brother David Dahl, and cousins Janice Schmidt, Allyson Mixer, Leslie Struble, and Randall Storey. She will be missed by many longtime close friends and remembered for her generous spirit, kindness, and spunk.
Linda will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Linda’s name to the American Legion of Bainbridge Island.
