Austin ‘Barney’ McFadden, 82
Austin “Barney” McFadden of Kingston died June 23, 2004 in Poulsbo. He was 82.
McFadden was born to Austin P. and Nora (O’Grady) McFadden in Worcester, Mass. on April 18, 1922.
He married Helen D. Rukosky on Dec. 11, 1943 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
McFadden graduated from St. Peter’s High School in Worcester, Mass.
He served in the U.S. Navy for seven years, achieving the rank of pharmacist mate first class. He then worked in pharmaceutical sales for more than 30 years until his retirement in 1980.
McFadden was a member of the Exchange Club, American Legion and 76’ers Golf Club in Michigan City, Ind. He enjoyed watching and playing golf, traveling, eating ice cream and camping. He was a member of St. Olaf’s Church in Poulsbo.
McFadden is survived by his wife Helen D. (Rukosky) McFadden of Kingston; sons Michael B. McFadden of Costa Rica, James A. (Karen) McFadden of Glen Ellyn, Ill., Timothy B. (Tammy) McFadden of San Diego, Calif., Mark J. (Sharon) McFadden of Holland, Mich. and Martin J. McFadden of San Diego, Calif.; daughters Patricia A. McFadden of Kingston and Mary C. (Alain) Perrin of Hansville; brother James McFadden of Worcester, Mass.; sisters Nora McFadden and Loretta Laverty, both of Worcester, Mass.; sister-in-law Mary Durham of Michigan City, Ind.; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother John McFadden.
A memorial service was held June 24 at The Stone Chapel in Poulsbo.
