Kingston resident Barbara Aleda Tarbill died Oct. 12, 2005 in Kingston. She was 78.

Tarbill was born to Von Valjean and Margaret (Fulton) Tarbill in Seattle on May 11, 1927.

She was married to Loren Hansen from 1950 to 1974 in Seattle and to Hubert (Andy) Anderson from 1980 to 1996 in Kingston.

Tarbill graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle in 1946 and attended the University of Washington in Seattle. She was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority.

She was a seamstress, tailor and costume maker for more than 40 years. She worked at the University of Washington Drama Costume Lab and at J.C. Penny in Bremerton. She retired in 1989.

Tarbill enjoyed quilting, stitchery, doll making and many other arts and crafts projects. She loved the beach at Apple Tree Point and sharing their retirement there with her brother and sisters.

She is survived by her first husband Loren Hansen of Olympia; daughters Roberta Hansen of Kingston, Sharon (David) Redpath and Gayle Hansen of Prince Frederick, Md. and Lorene Hansen of Bothell; sisters Betty Tarbill of Kingston and Katie (Don) Fortune of Kingston; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hubert (Andy) Anderson, brother Joe Tarbill and sister Jane Jones.

There will be a memorial at 3 p.m. Nov. 20 at Betty’s home at Apple Tree Point, 11996 Apple Cove Lane in Kingston. All those who know Barbara are welcome. A potluck reception will follow.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of The Stone Chapel in Poulsbo.
