Bessie C. Fischbach died Dec. 23, 2006, in Silverdale at the age of 87.
The Silverdale resident was born Sept. 20, 1919, to John and Christina (Rehor) Kriha in Montgomery, Minn. She graduated from high school in 1936 and then attended College of St. Teresa in Winona, Minn., where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in dietetics and did an internship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
Mrs. Fischbach married Peter P. Lischbach Jr. on Nov. 29, 1941, in Montgomery. He preceded her in death in 1993.
A homemaker, Mrs. Fischbach was active in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albany, Ore. where she served with many ministries, was a member of the American Association of University Women, Modern Travelers, the Albany Senior Center, various bridge clubs, Girl Scouts and the League of Women Voters. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, rock-hounding, reading, pinochle, bridge and traveling both around the country and the world.
Mrs. Fischbach is survived by her sons John (Carol) Fischbach of Port Townsend and George (Karan) Fischbach of Yuma, Ariz.; daugheter Chris (Mike) Logue of Silverdale; grandchildren Peter IV, Jack, Kristina, Carrie, Jonathan, Christopher, Sarah and Heather and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son Peter Fischbach III and her brother George Kriha.
A burial mass is set for 11 a.m. Feb. 17 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, followed by inurnment at Willamette Memorial Gardens, also in Albany. An online memorial is available at www.lewischapel.com.
