We sadly share that Damian died on February 2, 2021 at age 40, just short of two years after his diagnosis of glioblastoma. Damian moved to Bainbridge Island with his family at age 5. He attended Bainbridge Island schools, graduating in 1999. As a sophomore, he started working at the Bainbridge Safeway store. Once he decided to further his formal education, he continued working for Safeway and studied at Olympic Community College. In 2006 he transferred to Western Washington University, earning a BA in Communication followed by his MBA. He was still working for Microsoft as a Senior Premier Field Engineer at the time of his death.
He is survived by his father Mike Wiese of Kingston and his mother Betty Wiese of Bainbridge Island. His wife Carrie and stepsons John and Cole reside in the family home in Bothell, Washington. He was preceded in death by his stepmother Sharon Painter Wiese.
In his Damian way, he gave it his all in the two years after diagnosis—treatments (Swedish and MD Anderson Houston), work, commitment to and adventures with his new family. We are so proud of him. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Swedish Foundation at https://give.swedishfoundation.org/ or MD Anderson at https://gifts.mdanderson.org/.
