Dan Michael Brings, former resident of Suquamish, died from cancer March 1 in Hong Kong. He was 64.

Brings was born Jan. 10, 1946, to Vincent & Ethel Brings. A Washington native, he graduated from Bellevue High School in 1964 and from the University of Washington in 1967. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and worked with Don Palmer to start the recycling program at Bainbridge Disposal. For the last five years he lived with his wife in Hong Kong.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; two daughters, Teresa (Kii) and Amanda; and mother-in-law, Linda.
