Dan Tellvik of Port Orchard died peacefully at his home on November 11, 2023, after a hardfought battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Adeline (Axness) Tellvik, and brother Stanley Tellvik. He is survived by siblings Kathleen “Kaye” Gill, John (Pat) Tellvik, and Gene (Cathy) Tellvik; three children; three grandchildren; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Viking son of the sea, Dan loved restoring wooden boats, scuba diving, and fishing. A gardener, tinkerer, and builder he leaves a legacy of craftsmanship and curiosity. He graduated from South Kitsap High School and served in the US Air Force during Vietnam. After serving, Dan worked in various skilled trades before returning to school. He graduated from The Evergreen State College and went on to earn his Master’s degree from Chapman University, becoming the first in his family to do so. He saw potential in things, worked hard to realize it, and urged others to do the same. We are grateful for the gifts he shared with us and honor his spirit of determination and possibility.
A private service will be held. Donations to the Second Chance Foundation (secondchancefoundationwa.org) in Dan’s name are welcome.
