It is with tremendous love & deep sadness that we say goodbye to Denise Schairer, Age 66. Surrounded by friends and family who loved her very much, her body was no longer able to fight the cancer on Sept. 7, 2017. Her beautiful lightness of spirit was with her in her final days as she faced every adversity thrown at her with dignity, bravery, strength, humor and an attitude so positive & loving it will be a lifelong inspiration. For everyone she touched personally, and through her work in early childhood education with Catholic Community Services at St. Olaf’s, the Swedish Club of Seattle & the Vasa Park Board, please know she wanted the very best for everyone she knew. She left this world so proud of her children, friends, and the families she helped. Being a witness to all of the joys in our lives was the light of her life. Preceded in death by her husband Robert Schairer, Parents Jim & Ann Matelich, and siblings Doug & Phil Matelich. She is survived by her significant other Don Carlson, her children Chris & Betsy Schairer & her brothers Mark & Phil Matelich. The Memorial for Denise Schairer will be held at Kiana Lodge in Poulsbo at 5pm on Sunday Oct. 1, 2017 Arrangements entrusted to The Stone Chapel Poulsbo Mortuary.
