Donald Ray Dickens died January 10, 2007, after a five-year battle with cancer. He was 48.
Mr. Dickens was born Nov. 12, 1958, in Bremerton to James and Mitti Dickens. He graduated from East (Bremerton) High School in 1977 and went on to attend classes at several Washington colleges.
He worked at Todd Shipyard and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 32.
Mr. Dickens volunteered his time as an usher during University of Washington football games and worked the gate at the Mariners spring training camps. He enjoyed fun runs and was a big sports fan. He will be best remembered for his great smile and zest for life, always havong a positive attitude and enjoyment for his friends and family.
He is survived by Kitti Hansen, his significant other for the past 11 years, and his step-daughter Michelle Hanson Moore.
A vigil is planned for 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at the Cloverleaf Bar and Grill, 1240 Hollis Road. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Shoreline Unitarian Church, 14724 First Ave. N.E., in Shoreline.
