Donald K. Cheyney

Donald Dean Cheyney Sr. died on March 14 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He was 74. Cheyney was born May 30, 1934 in Glenwood, Iowa. He lived in Washington for the past 69 years. He was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Port Orchard. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus, Eagles, Active Club, Active International, Local #26 Plumber’s Fitters Union. He coached city league basketball and the Cheyney Studs Softball team. Cheyney also belonged to the Gallon Blood Club.

Early in life Cheyney attended Givens Elementary School in Orchard Heights and later graduated from Peninsula High School. He played varsity baseball, basketball and football all three years in High School. He attended Olympic College.

Cheyney is survived by his wife Ivy M. Cheyney, his children; Vicky L. Doyle, Lily M. Stockwell and Michael Thorn Cheyney, his brother Thorn Cheyney, his grandchildren; Charles T. Houghan IV, Mandie Houghan, Levi J. Doyle, Trevor (Bruhn) Stockwell, Ivy Hembrook, Charles Stockwell, Katie Anne Stockwell, Richie Stockwell, Rochelle Stockwell, Donald Cheyney, Tanner Cheyney and Kayanna Cheyney. Also his great-grandchildren Sky Houghan, Baby Charles Hougan, Sophia Stockwell, Gracie Stockwell, Wyatt Stockwell and Jackson Sampson. He was preceded in death by his parents Thorn Cheyney Sr. and Ruby Marie Cheyney, son Donald Dean Cheyney Jr., siblings Beverly Miller, John Cheyney and granddaughter Marie Houghan.
