Donald M. Orcutt, 85

Poulsbo resident Donald M. Orcutt died June 10, 2007 at his home. He was 85.

Orcutt was born to Clifton Ainslee Orcutt and Marion Caroline Smithers in Ridgefield Park, N.J. on Dec. 12, 1921.

He married Marion Dorothy Wille on Sept. 15, 1943 in Seattle.

Orcutt worked as a pilot for Pacific Northern Airlines for 27 years. He enlisted in the National Guard with the 104th Engineers in 1940. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1943 and achieved the rank of captain before being discharged in 1946. He was one of the first pilots to cross the English Channel on D-Day.

Orcutt enjoyed reading American history, spending time with his family and his dog Lucky. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, a member of the Urquhart Clan, the 440th Troop Carrier Group, the Quiet Birdmen, League of the South and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

Orcutt is survived by his sons Clifton (Carla) of Bainbridge Island, Russell (Kristi) of Enumclaw, Douglas (Elisa) of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter Sandra (Les) Klein of Poulsbo; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marion Dorothy Wille Orcutt, his sisters Phyllis Bem and Margorie Tibbitts and his brother Kenneth Orcutt.
