Donald W. Bacchus, 86

Poulsbo resident Donald W. Bacchus died Sept. 19, 2005 in Poulsbo. He was 86.

Bacchus was born to A.T. and Carrie Bacchus in Seattle on Nov. 15, 1918.

He married Hazel Leighton on Sept. 29, 1940 at the Ballard Lutheran Church.

He graduated from Vashon High School in 1937.

Bacchus served with the Third Infantry Division in World War II and made landings at Anzio and southern France attaining the rank of sergeant before being discharged. He then worked for Bacchus Lumber in Vashon.

He is survived by his wife Hazel (Peggy) Bacchus of Poulsbo; son Thomas (Jan) Bacchus of Ellensburg; daughter Laurie Bacchus and husband Steve Winquist of Vashon; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Bacchus was preceded in death by his brothers Thomas Bacchus, Douglas Bacchus and Sidney Bacchus.
