Douglas Gilbert Sigvard Stranne of Bainbridge Island was born at home in Seabold on May 2, 1933, and passed away on December 24, 2022. After graduating from Bainbridge High in 1951 Doug was drafted into the Air Force. Upon his Honorable discharge Doug earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Seattle University. Doug was intelligent, kind, humble, with a great sense of humor and a generous heart. He was told that he would not advance at Boeing because he was too nice to everybody from janitors to top brass, yet he retired as a Boeing VP. Doug was a patient and passionate teacher, sharing his knowledge and wisdom with others. Doug is survived by his wife Susan Stranne, five children, thirteen grandkids and nine great grandkids. Doug was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Systad, and his son Brett. Things Doug loved were his family, golfing, gardening, woodworking, traveling, running, boats and fishing. Donations are to be made to Children’s Orthopedic Hospital.
