Doug Trusty, longtime resident of Poulsbo, was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa and passed away in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho at North Idaho Hospice on November 3 surrounded by family.
At a young age, Doug developed a love for radio which lasted his whole life. After graduating at Fort Dodge Senior High in 1958, he went on to graduate from DeVry Tech in 1960, Fort Dodge Community College in 1962 and later Chapman University in 1982 with a BS in Electronics. From 1971 to 1994, Doug worked at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Keyport. There he developed and taught technical courses on complex weapon systems such as the Mark 48 Torpedo. He traveled to teach courses at naval facilities in LA, San Diego, Puerto Rico and Hawaii. Doug was a HAM radio operator with the call sign W7CWA. He enjoyed restoring antique radios as a hobby.
Doug is survived by four children: Stuart Trusty, Serena Hendricks, Cory Trusty and Kay Gell. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorathy in 2020 with whom he shared nine grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Anchor of Hope Church at 10625 Ridgetop Blvd. NW in Silverdale on Saturday, April 2 at 2 PM.
