Earl Peter Apeland of Poulsbo died July 2, 2007 in Bremerton. He was 83.

Apeland was born to Oscar and Julia (Iverson) Apeland on June 13, 1924. His grandparents were Peter and Josephine Iverson, who established the Kitsap County Herald in Poulsbo in 1901.

He graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1943 and John Brown University with a degree in electrical engineering.

Apeland served in the Navy until 1946 following his high school graduation.

He is survived by his cousin Muriel Williams.

Apeland was preceded in death by his brother Sydney.

There will be no services at his request. Interment will be at the Vinland Lutheran Church Cemetery.
