Edgar Allen Benson, 58
Edgar Allen Benson died Jan. 28 in Sitka, Alaska. He was 58.
Benson was born to Edgar Arthur Benson and Darlene Deloris Filmore in Minneapolis, Minn. on Jan. 19, 1950.
He graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1968. He was drafted and served in Thailand for three years. Upon his return, Benson attended Olympic College and received his bachelor’s degree in forestry engineering from the University of Washington.
Benson married Ilse de Groen in 1973; in 1998 he married Janice Rosendale.
Benson worked as a land surveyor, a fisherman in the Bering Sea, and a fireman for the city of Bremerton. After retirement, he worked as a counselor and volunteer in Sitka.
Benson loved working his land in Poulsbo, fishing excursions, boating and his cat, Peewee.
He is survived by his mother, Darlene Deloris Benson of Poulsbo; brother, Steven Arthur Benson, of Port Orchard; daughter, Amity Benson, of Mill Creek; and son, Edgar (Resa) Benson, of Hansville.
A celebration of life will be held at the Kiana Lodge Feb. 24 at 2 p.m.
