Edith M. Kilmer, 98

Edith Mae Kilmer of Poulsbo died March 20, 2004 in Poulsbo. She was 98.

Kilmer was born Oct. 8, 1905 to James and Nancy (Case) Hansberry in Nebraska.

She graduated from high school in Eastern Washington. She married Eugene C. (Jerry) Kilmer on March 26, 1923.

They made their home on the Olympic Peninsula where he was a logger and she was a homemaker.

She became a licensed beautician and operated a salon in Port Gamble and later managed salons in Suquamish and then Kingston. Later, Kilmer changed careers and worked as a nurse’s aide before retiring at age 72. She and her daughter then moved to Port Townsend where she enjoyed family and friends.

She is survived by her son Bill Kilmer of Molalla, Ore; daughter Evah Summers of Poulsbo; seven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughters Lela Kilmer and Gene Worsey.

A graveside inurnment was held at Seabold Cemetery, Bainbridge Island on March 26. The funeral arrangements were under the direction of Kass Funeral Home.
