Frances N. Knight, 78

Frances N. Knight died Sept. 23 at Martha & Mary in Poulsbo. She was 78.

Knight was born to Charles and Sarah Strickland in Abbyville, Ala., on Dec. 22, 1929.

She married Dirgle D. Knight Sr. on Jan. 1, 1949, in Lafayette, N.C. She was an Army wife and homemaker who loved music and dancing. She also enjoyed canning, freezing and cooking, sewing and making dolls. She loved having her entire family over and preparing large meals on the holidays. She was famous for her sweet ice tea.

She battled several types of dementia.

She is survived by her husband; sons Karl Knight of Poulsbo and John Knight of Los Vegas; daughters Sue Knight (Greg Reitan) of Poulsbo, Gail (Larry) Davis of Chesapeake, Virg.; brother Robert (Frances) Strickland of Florida, and sister Joyce Agee of Florida.

She has five grandchildren.

Knight was preceeded in death by her son Dirgle D. Knight Jr. in 1985; her brothers Mauin, Red, Herold, Vernon, Charles; sisters Lois, Dorothy, Lillie and Mildred.

A graveside service was held Sept. 24 at Mt. View Cemetery in Poulsbo.
