George Davis Graves died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton. The Poulsbo resident was 62 years old.
Mr. Graves was born March 18, 1944 in Tacoma to Kenneth and Winona (Esmay) Graves. After high school he joined the Navy, serving until 1970. While in the service he was stationed aboard the USS Guadalupe replenishment oiler off the coast of Vietnam.
He later went to work at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and retired from Subase Bangor in August 2002. He also served as a volunteer firefighter with the Spanaway/Elk Plain Fire District No. 7 and retired as a captain from Kitsap County Fire District No. 15 (now part of Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue) in 1994.
He is survived by his wife Linda (Wood) Graves of the family home; sons Larry (Wendi), Todd (Felicia), Michael (Becky) and Aaron (Cherish) Graves; daughter Elizabeth Graves; his mother; siblings Kenneth, Edgar, Judy, Lange, Douglas and Forrest; 12 grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
A visitation is scheduled for today, Oct. 28, from noon to 1:45 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Poulsbo First Ward, 2138 Northeast Mesford Road, in Poulsbo. Interment follows at Mountain View Cemetery.
