George W. “Bill” Lee, 81

George W. “Bill” Lee of Hansville died in Bremerton on Dec. 20, 2004. He was 81.

Lee was born to Bruce G. and Grace (Grube) Lee in Kansas City, Kan. on Feb. 22, 1923.

He married Gretchen (Volmer) Lee in Pasco on Sept. 15, 1956.

Lee graduated from Pomeroy High School in Pomeroy in 1941. He graduated from Whitman College in Walla Walla in 1949.

Lee served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He worked as a claims manager in the insurance industry and retired in 1989.

Lee enjoyed fishing, boating, woodworking, poker and being with his family. He was a member of the North Kitsap Chordsmen, the Hansville Romeo’s and the Driftwood Key Club in Hansville.

Lee is survived by his wife Gretchen Lee of Hansville; sons William L. (Cathy) Lee of Honolulu, Hawaii, Bruce M. (Karen) Lee of Anchorage, Alaska and Rick (Madeline) McCarthy of San Diego, Calif.; daughters Mandy “Amanda” (Bob Venezia) Lee of Seattle; sister Charlotte Clothier of Salem, Ore.; and four grandchildren..

Lee is preceded in death by his parents Bruce G. and Grace (Grube) Lee.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 7, 2005 in the Driftwood Key Clubhouse. Arrangements are under The Stone Chapel of Poulsbo. A cremation will take place at the Cherry Grove Crematory.
